Pharmacological and photodynamic therapy for skin cancer and other skin lesions (ES-8012-11)
In this unit, Dr Greg Siller covers histology and diagnosis of skin cancer, and the management of these lesions with pharmacological agents and photodynamic therapy. Patient selection and consent issues are also covered.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the appropriate use of pharmacological treatments for skin cancer
  • Know indications and contraindications for pharmacological treatments for skin cancer
  • Know how to choose the best treatment option for an individual patient with skin cancer and other lesions
  • Be aware of photodynamic therapy and indications for its use
  • Be aware of referral practice for non-melanoma skin cancer
This education program is developed and delivered for The University of Queensland, by The University of Queensland (UQ) Health Insitu. UQ Health Insitu is the lifelong learning arm of The University of Queensland Faculty of Health Sciences.

Expert presenter:
Dr Gregory M. Siller MBBS FACD
Dr Siller graduated from the University of Queensland and completed his FACD in Brisbane in 1994. He is currently in private practice in Brisbane and is a visiting medical officer at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
He recently spent 12 months working in the West Suffolk Hospital as part of the Cambridge University Hospital’s teaching trust.
His major interests are in laser treatments and pharmacological treatment of skin cancer. He is involved in numerous research projects with biotechnical and pharmaceutical companies.
