Treatment of skin cancer and other lesions (ES-8013)
During this presentation, Dr Michael Freeman will discuss the different treatments that are available for skin cancers and other lesions, their indications, and some possible complications.

Learning Objectives:

  • Be aware of photodynamic therapy and indications for its use in skin cancer and other skin lesions
  • Be aware of radiotherapy and indications for its use in skin cancer and other skin lesions
  • Be aware of laser therapy and indications for its use in skin cancer and other skin lesions
  • Be aware of cryotherapy and indications for its use in skin cancer and other skin lesions
This education program is developed and delivered for the University of Queensland, by University of Queensland (UQ) Health Insitu. UQ Health Insitu is the lifelong learning arm of the University of Queensland Faculty of Health Sciences.

Expert presenter: Dr Michael Freeman
Dr Michael Freeman graduated from The University of Queensland in 1979 with an MBBS. He became a Fellow of the Australasian College of General Practice (FRACGP) in 1987 and a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists (FACD) in 1994. Dr Freeman is in private practice on the Gold Coast. He is the Director of Dermatology at the Gold Coast Hospital and a Visiting Dermatologist at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. He is also an Assistant Professor of Dermatology at Bond University. In addition to being a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists, he is also a member of the Skin and Cancer Foundation of Queensland and an international member of the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr Freeman’s other appointments include reviewer for the Australasian Journal of Dermatology, Scientific Committee of the Australasian College of Dermatologists and Convenor of the Australasian College of Dermatologists’ Annual Scientific Meeting 2009. Dr Freeman presents regularly at many local dermatological meetings. He has participated as an investigator in more than a dozen clinical trials, and has published in peer-reviewed journals.
