According to The Cancer Council Australia, 50% of Australians will have a form of skin cancer, mostly non-melanocytic, in their lifetime.

If not, this short course, which includes hands-on workshops (held in Brisbane), will provide you with the contemporary knowledge you need to manage premalignant and malignant lesions in your practice.

Note! The didactic content of this course is identical to that of ‘Short Course: Dermatology – Photoageing’ [HI4430]. The difference between the two courses is that this course contains hands-on workshops. This short course is accredited as an Active Learning Module for RACGP QA&CPD 40 Category 1 points.

When you complete the entire suite, you will be eligible to upgrade to the Extended Course for this topic, at a discounted fee. Be able to identify and differentiate between the different types of pigmented skin lesions
Be able to use the dermatoscope to diagnose pigmented skin lesions
Be able to diagnose and manage pre-malignant skin lesions
Be able to diagnose non-melanoma malignant skin lesions
Know how to develop a practice register of the characteristics of potentially-malignant lesions, as detected by dermatoscopy, that will require excision.
To develop a practice protocol for safe preparation for, and storage of, glycolic peel materials
Workshop: Treatment options for premalignant and malignant lesions -what should I choose for which patient, and what can be performed in my practice? Duration: 2 hours.
This interactive small-group skills workshop, conducted and supervised by a dermatologist with a special interest in chemical peels, will teach participants how to apply the multitude of non-surgical approaches to managing skin cancer to their general practice setting.
This workshop builds on the knowledge acquired in 'Diagnosis and dermoscopy of pigmented lesions (ES-8007)'.Working in small groups under the supervision of a dermatologist with a special interest in the area, participants will develop skills in the practical interpretation of dermatoscopy images.
