Australians have the highest rates of skin cancer in the world. Many of us unfortunately have the fairest skin types prone to sun damage. According to The Cancer Council Australia, 50% of Australians will have a form of skin cancer, mostly non-melanocytic, in their lifetime. Are you equipped for the diagnosis? Are you confident in your ability to distinguish between benign and pre-cancerous lesions and to counsel patients on prevention and management strategies relevant to photoageing? If not, this short course will provide you with the contemporary knowledge you need to manage photoageing in your practice.
‘Diagnosis and dermoscopy of pigmented lesion’ (ES-8007) offers training in the appearance and identification of vascular lesions, BCC, benign nevi, seborrhoeic keratosis, and melanocytic lesions using a dermatoscope.
Upon completion of ‘Pre-malignant skin lesions’ (ES-8008) you will be a master of actinic keratosis (AK). Learn:
The risk factors for actinic keratosis
AK variants and the differential diagnosis
The conservative treatment for AK:
Why patients need to use sunscreens to protect against UVA as well as UVB
Dietary and lifestyle modifications to reduce exposure to carcinogens
Everything you need to know about cryotherapy, peels, laser, and new agents
Finally, immerse yourself in the clinical features of non-melanoma skin cancer, including atypical presentations and the benign lesions that can fool you. ‘Non-melanoma malignant lesions’ (ES-8009) includes:
Basal cell carcinoma
Squamous cell carcinoma
intraepithelial cancer
keratoacanthoma
