Nurses simulation manual for trainers

This manual was updated in February 2010 in accordance with the 2010 British Thoracic Society Pleural Procedures Guidelines.

This manual is for Facilitators involved in the delivery of the simulation component of the chest tube insertion, removal and chest drain management program for nurses.

This manual provides instructions for conducting the simulation component, and outlines different considerations.

Prerequisites
This simulation skills training has been designed to integrate with, and run in collaboration with the online course: 'A nurse's guide to insertion and removal of chest tubes and management of chest drains in adults'

Prior to undertaking simulation skills training, participants should complete online learning and provide a transcript confirming this to the facilitator. In the simulated skills training, participants will be expected to demonstrate and apply acquired online learning.
