This program was released in February 2010 and is in line with the 2010 British Thoracic Society Pleural Procedures Guidelines.
The insertion of chest tubes is a significant cause of iatrogenic injury. The 'Chest Drain program suite' for doctors has been developed to improve patient safety by advancing both the skills and clinical judgement of medical officers when inserting chest tubes, as well as managing chest drains.
